Little Vampires

Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center is the huge room that hosts the biggest movie and television panels of San Diego Comic Con. People wait in the Hall H line for several days so they can be the first to see exclusive footage of their favorite shows and films. They also wait to see their favorite stars appear on stage. Those of us who are working at the convention, and those who can’t make it to SDCC, can watch the Hall H panels on YouTube. So is waiting in line worth it? I think it would have been pretty awesome to be there when this happened:

I know so many of you don’t get to go to San Diego Comic Con. So why do I go on so much about it? Why do I not have a buffer of comics for you during SDCC? I don’t normally share the economics of what I do, but there’s a first time for everything. 🙂 In short, I do not make direct income from creating the comic. I make my living by going to conventions and selling books, art, and other merchandise. If I don’t make an income, I can’t continue making the comic.

San Diego Comic Con is the most expensive convention to exhibit at. It’s also the longest show, running from Wednesday to Sunday. So it’s vital that I create work that will help me cover the costs of the booth, and make enough of it to last several days.

So if I have to make a choice between preparing for SDCC (which will hopefully result in income), or creating a comic buffer (which won’t), I choose the income. I love you all, and I love doing this comic, but girl gotta make a living. 🙂
